Excitement As UNIDEL Holds Intercessory Prayers.


University of Delta, Agbor, today, 8th January 2024, held the maiden intercessory prayer for 2024 with the 1000 sitting hall filled to capacity.
In her welcome address, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke said she was delighted to welcome staff and students back to campus and praised the hard work, commitment, and resilience of the management staff.
Prof. Chiemeke urged all staff and students to live up to expectations and ensure that the work ethics reflect the vision and mission of the university, which is an institution of excellence, geared towards producing, well-motivated and skillful graduates.
She called on everyone to rededicate themselves to the task of making University of Delta Agbor one of the best universities in Nigeria and beyond.
The Vice Chancellor while acknowledging the efforts made by some staff in 2023 towards the speedy growth and development of the institution, noted that she looked forward to seeing academic staff driven by serious research, innovative breakthroughs, dedicated teaching and mentoring abilities.
Prof Chiemeke charged non-teaching academic staff to display high meticulous administrative and organizational acumen as well as students driven by unquenchable thirst for knowledge.
In an exhortation titled "And it shall turn to you for a testimony" with Bible reference from Luke 21:12-15, the guest preacher, Rev. Fr. Stephen Chukwuma- Parish Priest, St John's Catholic Church Agbor, and the Vicar Agbor Ecclesiastical Region, enjoined staff and students to always live a godly live.
He said that as Christians, difficulties and hardship will surely come, but Jesus Christ will always be with his children till the end of time pointing out that whatever we do, we should remember that Christ is omnipresent.
Speaking further, the clergy said one would not be judged by possession of degrees, wealth acquired but by the life lived and the relationship with God.
He admonished Christians to be sincere, prayerful, and seek the face of God in whatever they intend to do and appealed to everyone to ensure that their hands and hearts were clean in order to receive blessings from God.
The Intercessory prayers were taken by Dr John Oji and Rev. Celestine Canon.
In a vote of thanks, the Registrar of the institution, Barrister Richmond Omagbemi, appreciated the Vice Chancellor for making available all the necessary resources meant for the program, which has been receiving a massive success.
He commended the contributions of the Intercessory Committee and the University Band for their commitment towards the success of the programme.
The UNIDEL Prays, which also features praise and worship, is a monthly program that is held on the first official working day of the month.
