*Nigeria Institute of Architects Visit UNIDEL, Pledges Massive Support*


In a bid to foster close ties and gain insights into the academic and extracurricular activities within the Department of Architecture, the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA) on Wednesday, 24th April 2024, visited University of Delta Agbor.
The chairman of NIA and leader of the delegation, Arc. Dr John Agmada Bawa said they were in UNIDEL basically to engage with both the department staff and the students in order to understand their experience and prospectives.
Arc. Bawa who led other members of his team on a courtesy call on the management of the institution, was received by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Patricia Mbah. He posited that the vision of NIA was to attain excellence in the creative management of the physical environment.
He stated further that they would ensure that students in the Architecture Department in UNIDEL are well positioned, nurtured, and groomed to enable them to compete favourably with their contemporaries within and outside the country.
While commending the management for the provision of state -of -the- arts facilities in the department, the body said that they would take responsibility of any architectural design in the institution on a free of charge basis and make other contributions towards beautifying the University.
In a view to enhancing the students' academic performance, the institute appealed to the University Management to form Architecture Students Association, approve Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) programmes and provide data room, computer room and digital library.
Responding, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Patricia Mbah commended the NIA team for the visit.
She assured them of presenting their requests to the Vice Chancellor for management consideration and necessary action.
The Nigerian institute of Architects) was founded on the 1st of April 1960 as a association of independent professional architects with the aims and objectives of fostering friendship amongst members, cater their welfare and establish mutual support and cooperation amongst them.
