*UNIDEL Receives Financial Grant To Address Plastic Waste Management - Prof. Mbah*
The
Deputy Vice Chancellor of University of Delta Agbor, Prof. Patricia
Mbah has reiterated the University resolve to design, develop and
implement an innovative and sustainable plastic waste management in the
Institution.
Prof. Mbah made the
disclosure while briefing the UNIDEL Media Team on the recent grant
awarded to UNIDEL by the French Embassy in Nigeria.
She
stated that the University's Governing Council, the Senate as well as
the University Management were overwhelmed by the performance of the
institution which made them among the six selected universities in
Nigeria that got the grants based on well articulated proposals.
The
DVC said the grants were part of the French Embassy's project on
plastic waste management in Nigerian Campuses which was aimed at
supporting young Nigeria researchers in developing innovative solutions
for a healthier environment.
She
noted that with the first tranche of the grant already sent to UNIDEL,
attention is now focussed on the project in the University which is
titled " Innovative approach to a Sustainable Plastic Management System
in University of Delta Agbor."
She
revealed that the project would address the pervasive issue of plastic
waste management within UNIDEL and it's host communities by adopting a
comprehensive and phased approach to recycling and re-purposing plastic
waste.
Prof. Mbah while
appreciating the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke for her
unwavering commitment and contributions towards the program, gave kudos
to members of the plastic waste management, UNIDEL Research Team for
their proactiveness.
The
members according to her are Dr. Ejaita Okpako, Dr. ( Mrs.) Felicia
Mormah, Dr.( Mrs.) Edith Okoh, Dr. Omoruiji Chiadika, Ms. Asikadi
Ishioma , Engr. Odili Ashibidike and Engr. Juliet Chinenye Mbah.
