UNIDEL To Host 2024 Library Conference


One of the fastest growing universities in Africa, University of Delta Agbor, (UNIDEL) is to host the 2024 Library Conference slated for November.
The chairman of Nigerian Library Association (NLA) Delta State Chapter, Dr( Mrs) Gloria Oyovwe - Tinuoye made the disclosure on Tuesday, 28th May 2024 when her team paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor.
Dr. Oyovwe - Tinuoye said the decision to choose UNIDEL for the event was because of the rapid and speedy growth of the institution, especially the Library Division, which is already growing in line with international standards.
The Chairman who was accompanied by Mrs Ruth Eghworo and Mr Eguono Daniel enumerated some of the objectives of the Association to include, encouraging national and international conferences, uniting persons interested in libraries, promoting the establishment and development of libraries and information center.
She also added that NLA helps to safeguard and promote the professional interest of librarians as well as encourage bibliographical study and research.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof Stella Chiemeke, while accepting to host the event, commended the association for its visible roles in ensuring the development of libraries in Nigeria and reawaking the reading culture.
The UNIDEL Librarian, Dr( Mrs) Vera Okonoko thanked the Vice Chancellor for her contributions towards the growth and development of the UNIDEL Library and pledged her readiness to take it to an enviable height that would become the cynosures of all Librarians.
