The final year students of Psychology, University of Delta Agbor, made the institution proud during their six weeks practicum program at Neurosyehiatric Hospital, Uselu in Benin City, Edo State.
The Head of the department, Dr. ( Mrs) Olufunke Chenube made the disclosure during the students seminar presentation held at Owa Oyibu Campus.
Dr. Olufunke said the practicum program was designed to provide practical experience, application and knowledge in the field of psychology.
She noted that the essence of the program was to expose the students to Clinical Experience, PSY 404 which is compulsory for graduation.
She said she was impressed with the students presentation which was an indication,that they were theoretically equipped before embarking on the six weeks practicum.
The Dean of the Faculty of Social Science, Prof. Ben Nwanne who was represented at the seminar by Dr. Emmanuel Uwaifo said the presentation was a welcome development , worthy of emulation and commended the Hod, Dr Olufunke for exposing the students to practicals.
Fourteen students participated in the seminar presentation which highlighted various mental and psychological disorders encountered during the practicum.
In separate interview with UNIDEL Media Team, some of the students, Enoch Odinakachukwu and Omodon Ihioma, pointed out that the six weeks experience was very impactful, expository and a reflection of what they were theoretically taught in class.
They added that the knowledge gained was relevant to their training in University of Delta Agbor.
They expressed gratitude to the University Management for providing the necessary support to carry out the practicum.
