*Department Of Philosophy Holds Orientation Exercise.*

The Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Delta Agbor has held orientation exercise for the year one students.

The Head of the Department, Rev. Dr. John Mordi in his address congratulated the students and offered them useful advice.

He told the students that choosing philosophy was a wise decision as it was a discipline that had been the foundation of critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and ethical inquiry for centuries.

He enjoined them to take their studies seriously as the department was dedicated to providing a supportive and stimulating environment for academic growth.

He added that the staff in the Department were renowned scholars in their fields and, they were passionate about teaching and mentoring.

Rev. Mordi also charged the students to be open- minded and receptive to new ideas and develop a habit of critical thinking.

The orientation exercise featured lectures from resource persons who spoke on; Living with the fear of God in UNIDEL, the need to Study Philosophy, Campus Life: Harnessing the challenges of Students’ Social, Academic and Religious Life, Employability of Philosophers in the Contemporary World and Consequence of Indiscipline and Examination mal-practice.

The resource persons were Rev. Dr. Barnabas Izegede, Mr. Harry Onyekpe , Mr. Cyril Obianke, Dr. Ikechukwu Osebor and Mr. Peter Makpamekun Efe.

Mr. Dennis lrekefe on behalf of the department thanked the Dean of the Faculty, Dr. ( Mrs.) Caroline Ohen for her unwavering commitment and support towards the growth of the department.

He also appreciated the staff for their contributions which made the exercise a huge success.
