Public Health Department Conducts Preventive Health Workshop.
The Department of Public Health, University of Delta Agbor, has conducted its maiden worship for students.
In her welcome address, the Head of the department, Dr.( Mrs.) Ewere R. Iwegbu said the workshop was a milestone in the lives of the Public Health students, marking the beginning of a journey to fill a critical knowledge gap in their understanding of Public Health as a course in Basic Medical Science.
She stressed the need for students to understand their roles in national and community - based health facilities, recognizing their expertise in preventing disease rather than solely relying on treatment.
She expressed gratitude to Dr. Hillary Ibegbulem , whom she said, sponsored over sixty percent of the workshop.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke who was represented by her Deputy, Prof. Patricia Mbah commended the Department for holding such a workshop which was well timed, educative and impactful.
She congratulated the new students in the department and enjoined them to take their academic activities seriously to enable them obtain good results.
A lecture on Career Prospects was delivered by Dr. Agofure .O. who took a cursory look at the core activities of public health and career in public health.
High point of the event was the presentation of an award, Mr. UNIDEL Public Health Advocate 2024 to Dr. Hillary Ibegbulem for his remarkable contributions.
The award was received on his behalf by Dr. Fidelis Ozoba.
