MDCN Visits UNIDEL, Commends VC For Rapid Growth
The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, MDCN, has paid a routine Advisory visit to the University Delta Agbor to assess the Institution's compliance with the council's accreditation standards for Medical and Dental programs.
Dr N.U. Nwakama, Deputy Director and Head of Department of Medical Education , in the Council who led the delegation to the University was visibly overwhelmed by the institution's massive growth and development within a short period.
He said they were in UNIDEL for critical and objective assessment, and to give useful advice where necessary.
He stated that the MDCN accredits medical and dental programs in Nigeria to ensure that they met the required standards.
Dr Nwakama also disclosed that their visit to UNIDEL was approved faster than expected because of the sterling leadership qualities exhibited by the Management Team.
He said the Council would continue to cement the cordial relationship with UNIDEL in order to foster collaboration and partnership.
Responding, the Vice Chancellor of University of Delta Agbor, Prof Stella Chiemeke appreciated Dr Nwakama and his team for their contributions towards the advancement of Medical and Dental programs in Nigeria.
Prof. Chiemeke said UNIDEL would continue to follow MDCN standards and abide strictly by all rules and regulations.
She reaffirmed the Delta State Government's support for Education especially in UNIDEL which has become the cynosure of all eyes across the world.
The MDCN team was received by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Stella Chiemeke, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Patricia Mbah, the Registrar Barrister Richmond Omagbemi, the Bursar Mr Sunny Ikeogwu and the Librarian, Dr Mrs Vera Okonoko.
Others were Prof. Obiazi Adagbonyin, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Prof Alexander Naiho Dean Faculty of Medicine, Prof. John Igweh, Dean Faculty of Basic Medical Science, Prof. Helen Ajayi, Dean Faculty of Agriculture, Dr (Mrs) Caroline Ohen, Dean Faculty of Arts, Dr( Mrs) Florence Omumu, Dean Faculty of Education, Dr Collins Molua , Dean Faculty of Science and the Dean of Computing , Dr Ejaita Okpako .
Also present during the visit are the Director of Works, Egnr. Evans Ogwu, Director of Academic Planning, Dr Anthony Ukpene, Hod of Nursing , Prof. O. Okhai as well as the Zonal Medical Director of the Agbor Central Hospital, Dr Stanley Nnoli and the Medical Director of Mother and Child Specialist Hospital Owa Alero, Delta State, Dr. Martins Egbase.
The MDCN team includes Dr N. U Nwakama, Mr D. D Tyovenda, Mr David Isioma Omoregie, Prof. Nuhu Adeh and Dr Atoe Kenneth. Other members of the team included Prof. Grace Essiet, Prof. Jude Egwurugwu, Prof. Emmanuel Okoro, Prof. Chidi Oranusi and Prof. Ngozi Ugwu.
