UNIDEL Will Produce Best Medical Graduates ln The World- Prof. Alex Naiho*

The pioneer Dean of Faculty of Medicine, University of Delta Agbor, Prof Alex Naiho, has said that the institution will produce graduates that will stand the test of time.
Professor Naiho stated this while speaking to UNIDEL Media on Thursday, 14 May 2024.
He said the faculty, though still new, has state-of -the arts facilities and equipment for practical teaching and learning.
"UNIDEL has a conducive learning environment with competent lecturers in the faculty. Our medical students passed through a credible admission process, and today, they have excellent results from their first semester. I have no doubt in mind that they would be the best in the world.".
"I left Delsu because we need to grow UNIDEL. Having gathered about 21 years, l will give the Vice Chancellor and its management team every support. "
While commending the Delta State government for building the college of medicine, he also appealed for the establishment of a teaching hospital for training of medical doctors and professionals.
"We had a memorandum of understanding with central hospital Agbor and Mother and child Diagnostic Center at Owa Alero, for the training of our students which was presented to the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) before we took off. However, these hospitals have to be upgraded to tertiary hospital".
On standard of Education in Nigeria, the Professor of Physiology pointed out that reading culture might have declined significantly but, the faculty of medicine still maintains standard as the admission process is being regulated by NUC and Medical Health Council.
"Our doctors are valued anywhere in the world because we have good standards but because the government has not reviewed their salaries well, they travel out frequently to abroad where they are well paid and taken care of. This is why we lack adequate doctors in Nigeria hospitals to treat patients. The Nigerian government needs to pay the doctors well because when there is no job satisfaction, there would be no commitment."
Prof. Naiho, while commenting on the three years of administration of Prof. Stella Chiemeke noted that he was particularly impressed by the conduct and disciplined of staff and students. He stated that the Vice Chancellor has laid a good foundation in the citadel of learning, which is worthy of emulation.
