*Mass Comm. Dept. Holds Nine Lessons And Carols. *
In a bid to enhance the cultural and spiritual well-being of staff and students in the University of Delta, Agbor, the Department of Mass Communication has held it's maiden edition of Nine Lessons and Carols.
Declaring the event opened, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Mass Communication students.
She commended the Dean of Faculty of Social Science, Prof. Ben Nwanne for the huge success of the event.
The Vice also lauded the efforts of the Head of the Department, Mrs Bettina Agbamu for her leadership qualities which has significantly brought visible transformation.
In her address, Mrs. Bettina Agbamu said the event was to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ and reflect on the spiritual significance of the season.
She also noted that the event would promote awareness and showcase the rich cultural heritage and tradition surrounding the Christmas celebration.
In an exhortation titled: Reciprocating God's love at Christmas, Dr. Emmanuel Morka enjoined all staff and students to show love to one another and celebrate in humility and in a godly way.
The first lesson was taken by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Stella Chiemeke while other eight lessons were taken by staff of the institution.
The Obi of Owa, his Royal Majesty, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor the second, in a goodwill message commended the Management of UNIDEL for making the lka Nation proud.
He noted that the citadel of learning has grown into a renowned University adding that the future of the students was very bright .
Highpoints of the epoch making event was the cutting of cake and unveiling of the Mass Communication press jacket by Prof. Stella Chiemeke.
The theme of the event was "Love the Essence of the Season".
The event also featured interesting programmes including news broadcast, drama and music.
Dignitaries at the event included the Executive Chairman of lka North East Local Government Area, represented by Hon. Tunde Etumudon, the Deans of Agriculture Law and Computing Prof.
Helen Ajayi, Prof. Cecil Okubor, Dr. Ejiata Okpako,VC representative at Owa Oyibu, Prof. Regina Arisi and Heads of departments, Staff and Students.
