UNIDEL To Conduct Online Union Election - Azani


University of Delta Agbor will organize online elections to constitute the Students Union Government after the students’ week, which is expected to kick off on the 20th of May 2024.
The Dean of Students Advisory Services, UNIDEL, comrade Azani Nwabukwu, made the disclosure on Wednesday, 8th May 2024, while speaking to UNIDEL Media
According to comrade Azani, the election would produce students’ legislative council and two representatives, each from the twelve faculties.
“We have concluded arrangements to organize the first student government election for the students of UNIDEL. It is a grooming process to prepare them for leadership positions after their graduation. In the school hostels, there will be an election for the governor, secretary, financial secretary, and other positions.”
The Dean stated that the University Management approved the online voting to enable the students to vote from wherever they will be on the election day.
On dress code and discipline among students, comrade Azani noted that there has been a high level of compliance as no student dresses indecently again on campus or lecture hall.
He added that the committee in charge of misconduct has been impressed by the conduct of the students within and outside the campus.
He, therefore, appealed to all the students to remain focused and shun every social vice as their primary assignment in the university is to acquire knowledge and be useful to their family and the society at large.
On students’ accommodation, the Dean said arrangements is being made for the involvement of private enterprises to build hostels in the campuses.
He added that the management has appealed to the state government to help solve the accommodation challenges being experienced in the institution.
On the state of security in the institution, he expressed gratitude to the host communities, the local vigilante, the police and the UNIDEL Campus Security Committee for their contributions and commitment towards maintaining a peaceful learning environment.
He enjoined students to always avoid night movements, especially during social and religious events.
