*Faculty of Arts Holds Orientation Exercise For New Students*


The Faculty of Arts, University of Delta Agbor, on Wednesday, 7th February 2024, held orientation exercise for the newly admitted students.
Declaring the event open, the Vice Chancellor of UNIDEL, Prof Stella Chiemeke, who was represented by the University Librarian Dr (Mrs) Vera Okonoko congratulated the students on their successful admission into the faculty.
Prof. Chiemeke said the core values of the university are academic excellence, respect, accountability, transparency, research development, and innovation. She urged the students to focus on their academic activities.
While encouraging them to be of good conduct within and outside the campus, the VC stated that the University has rules and regulations guiding its operation and it is expedient that as students, they are mandated to adhere strictly and shun all forms of negative vices.
In her speech, the Dean of the Faculty, Dr (Mrs) Caroline Ohen commended the students for the impressive turnout, which was a strong indication that they are in UNIDEL for serious academic work.
Dr. Ohen urged the students to see their transition from secondary school to university as a significant milestone where they would acquire knowledge, forge lasting friendship, develop critical thinking skills, and discover their passions.
While challenging the students to target first class and start working towards it, the Dean noted that the faculty parades experts in their respective fields who are dedicated and committed to nurturing their intellectual curiosity and help them to realize their full potential. She also advised the students to be prayerful and join only regulated social association capable of impacting their lives positively.
The orientation exercise covered variety of topics which included Time Management and Examination Ethics by comrade Nwabukwu Azani, Course Registration and Result Computation by Dr Wisdom Ezenwoali, Dress Code and Moral Conduct by Dr Osbert lsiorhovoja and Cultivation of Good Study Habits by Dr Mary Egwuanikwu.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor Prof Patricia Etuna Mbah admonished the students to remain law abiding and strive for excellence in order to make their parents proud.
The orientation exercise provided an opportunity for the students to clarify certain issues bothering them. Answers were provided and well explained by the resource persons.
