*My Dream ls To Make UNIDEL Library the Best ln Nigeria - Dr (Mrs) Okonoko*

As Universities across the globe continue to key into the modern Library in order to meet the present-day reality, the Librarian of University of Delta Agbor, Dr (Mrs) Vera Okonoko has said, that she would explore all means to ensure that the institution's library is rated the best in Nigeria.
Dr Okonoko made the disclosure on Tuesday, 23rd January 2024, while fielding questions from UNIDEL Media Team (UMT) in her office.
She pointed out that in-line with NUC standard, UNIDEL library is working towards providing users with access to computers, high speed internet, WIFl and offer virtual and augmented reality technologies, audio and video recording studio.
While commending the Vice Chancellor, Prof Stella Chiemeke for giving priority attention to the University library, Dr Okonoko stated that the school is already keying into the Electronic-Library by expanding it through the subscription of data bases.
" It's my dream that in a few years' time, UNIDEL library will be the best in Nigerian universities. As you know, buildings are critical components of the library, serving as physical space where library resources are stored, managed, and available to users. We are ready to incorporate environmentally sustainable features such as energy efficient lighting and solar panels."
She added that having 2500 capacity sitting is part of her plans for the University.
On reading culture, the University Librarian expressed displeasure over the attitude of students, especially the youths toward reading. She urged education stake holders and parents to encourage their children to read as whatever they read today will always be useful to them in future.
The library expert also advised staff and students to be focused and take God, hard work, and good character as guiding qualities to be successful in life.
She said it is pertinent to always seek the face of God, take work seriously, and avoid behaviors that affect one's character negatively.
Stressing the need for improved effective library services in Nigerian universities, Dr Okonoko appealed to the government to employ more professionals in the library profession.
