*Create An Environment That Fosters Innovation, Creativity And Excellence, VC Charges University Staff*
The
Vice Chancellor of University of Delta Agbor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke has
charged the newly appointed Deans, Directors and Heads of Departments
to see their appointments as a testament to their hard work, dedication
and commitment in their respective fields.
Prof.
Chiemeke gave the charge during a one day workshop organized for the
newly appointed Deans, Directors and Heads of Departments at the 1000
Lecture Theatre, Main Campus, Agbor.
She
said that as leaders, they were saddled with the responsibility of
upholding the values of the Institution including academic excellence,
integrity and social responsibility.
She
urged them to see the workshop as carefully designed to equip them
with the necessary knowledge, skills and strategies to excel in their
roles as well as providing them with a comprehensive understanding of
the university's vision, mission and strategic objectives.
Prof.
( Mrs.) B.O Anyanwu delivered the first lecture on " Managing typical
academic functions and duties". She took a cursory look at the functions
and duties of Deans and Hods, the setting up and moderation of
questions as well as marking guidelines. She also advocated for proper
constitution of Faculty Management Boards for effective service
delivery.
Dr.( Mrs.) Bridget
Malasowe while presenting the lecture on " operation of the University
Portal in results compilation and upload", highlighted the benefits of
deploying portal management systems in a university, key features of the
kofa portal and major challenges in result processing and upload of
results.
The Registrar, Barrister
Richmond Omagbemi gave an insightful and impactful lecture on the
topic: Handling Staff Discipline; a must for all academic heads.
He
analysed in detail the rules and regulations guiding the Institution
with emphasis on lecture attendance, rescheduling of classes without
approval, lateness to work, outright absenteeism, plagiarism and immoral
conduct with students.
Prof. O.S
. Adewale spoke on " An ideal Faculty/Departmental Administration,
where he dissected the vision and mission of the University, key
features, roles, components and characteristics of department.
Ven. Jonathan Adudu delivered a lecture on: "Handling Staff and Students with Godly Disposition."
He
stressed the need for staff to live a holy life as God wants his
children to reflect his glory by living in ways that align with his
will and purpose.
Making references to Proverbs 23:7, Matthew 15:19 and Daniel 6:1- 4, the clergyman stated that there was a price for godliness.
He
enumerated hallmarks of godly disposition to include compassion,
simplicity, availability, approachability, humility, forgiveness,
gratitude, self- discipline, love, obedience, wisdom and charisma.
The program also featured question and answer sessions, which were addressed accordingly by the Resource persons.
