*UNIDEL Holds 2024 Nine Lessons And Carol.*
Amid excitement and celebration, University of Delta Agbor on Wednesday, 18th December,2024 held its Nine Lessons and Carol.
The colourful event which took place at the main campus saw the 1000 capacity hall filled to capacity.
In a brief exhortation, Pastor John Oji while speaking on the topic "Peace to all Men", said the essence of the Christmas celebration was to thank God for the birth of Jesus Christ who came into the world to save mankind from their sins and pains.
He enjoined all Christians to look unto God, noting that Christmas celebration symbolizes hope,love and redemption.
He charged staff and students of the University to celebrate in holiness and shun worldly attractions that would derail the reason for the season.
Pastor Oji further urged staff and students to see the season as a time for sober reflection, a time to be ready for the coming of the Lord and to show generosity especially to the needy in the Society.
The first reading was taken by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Stella Chiemeke while the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Patricia Mbah took the second reading.
The Registrar, Barrister Richmond Omagbemi, the Bursar Mr. Sunny Ikeogwu and the University Librarian took the third, forth and fifth readings respectively.
The other lessons were read by the Union leaders, SUG President and Dr. Rev John Mordi.
The lighting of the Christmas tree was performed by Prof. Stella Chiemeke while the University band thrilled the audience with melodious Carol songs.
In her Christmas message,the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke expressed gratitude to staff for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the growth and development of the University in 2024.
She urged everyone to celebrate decently and in holiness.
Some notable dignitaries at the event were the Principal Officers,Deans of various Faculties, Heads of Department, Directors, Union Leaders, Staff and Students.
In a vote of thanks, the Dean of Faculty of Arts,vDr. Mrs Caroline Ohen commended the University Band for their excellent performance.
She gave kudos to the Vice Chancellor Prof. Stella Chiemeke for giving the Department of Performing Arts the necessary support and assistance to hold a successful Event.
