Rich Cultural Diversity on Display as UNIDEL Students Mark Cultural Day


It was celebration time at the University of Delta, Agbor, on Thursday, 23rd May 2024, as students
turned out en masse to commemorate the 2024 cultural day.
The annual event, which is set aside to celebrate the cultural heritage, endowment, and traditions of different nationalities in the country, took place at the 1000 capacity auditorium and main campus.
Shortly after the opening formalities, the students took to the stage dressed in colourful cultural attires of different Nigerian ethnic groups.
While there was a brief musical interlude, the atmosphere got more electrified as the students danced enthusiastically.
The high point came when the cultural exhibition took the center stage. Ten groups participated. They were National Association of lka Students, Isoko Students Association, Association of Aniocha/ Oshimili Students, National Union of Urhobo Students and Federated Union of Ndokwa Students.
Others were ljaw Students Association, Association of Edo Students, Hausa/Fulani Students Association, and National Association of Igbo Students.
At the end of the interesting and entertaining exhibition, the Ndokwa students took first with 75. 5 percent while Aniocha/ Oshimili took second with 68 percent. The Urhobo and Igbo students took the third position with 67 percent each.
In his closing remarks, the Dean of Students Advisory Services, comrade Azani Nwabukwu, charged the students to embrace their indigenous cultures and languages.
The students, while speaking to UNIDEL Media, expressed gratitude to the management of UNIDEL for putting up such an exciting event. They noted that the program gave them a good opportunity to showcase their talents.
