The acting chairman of Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU , UNIDEL branch, comrade Umukoro Oghenekaro has disclosed that the interest of his members remains a priority.
Comrade Oghenekaro who stated this during a media chart with UNIDEL Media Team said that since he assumed the leadership on 30th September, 2023, he had continued to operate an open door policy where members views and feeling are accommodated.
He noted that within one year, there has been visible achievements recorded especially on welfare of staff, purchase of union utility vehicle and so on.
“ I am happy to state here that the unity, co-operation and love existing among SSANU members have made the University Management to approve a land for our Secretariat and plans are on the pipeline for the commencement of the building “.
“ With high sense of joy , l can also say that all our demands for the past one year have been met and granted accordingly by the appropriate authorities “.
On the minimum wage implementation by Delta State Government, the union leader said the issue of some workers receiving more than University staff in the state would soon be addressed.
Comrade Oghenekaro while assuring SSANU members of enhanced welfare packages , charged them to remain focused, disciplined and to be dedicated to their jobs as the University Management frowns at indolence and misconduct.
“ Sincerely, we have built and maintained cordial relationship with UNIDEL Management. They have always listened to us and granted our requests. Therefore, the only way to reciprocate is to take our work seriously “.
