*Delta State Government to Partner with UNIDEL On Entrepreneurship*


As part of measures to reduce the level of unemployment in Delta State, especially among the youths, the Delta State government has set up an entrepreneurship schemes in higher institutions.
The Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Entrepreneurship Development, Dr Onyibe Donald Peterson made the disclosure when he paid a courtesy call on the management of University of Delta, Agbor on Tuesday, 25th June 2024.
Dr. Peterson underscored the importance of entrepreneurship in the life of students, which will encourage them to devise innovative solutions.
The economist stated that entrepreneurship drives economic growth and creates jobs, especially for graduates.
The governor’s aide stressed that the Agropreneur and Techpreneur initiatives were aimed at engaging the students positively to become job creators instead of job seekers.
He requested a large space of land where the hydroponic farming system would be practice attracting gains for both the students and the institution.
On Tech-prenurship, Dr Peterson said a team of lCT experts would train the students, especially on digital marketing, cyber security and others, to enhance their potential.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof.Stella Chiemeke, in her response, commended Dr Peterson for his love for UNIDEL, which has been immensely felt.
Prof. Chiemeke said UNlDEL was ready to partner with the office of entrepreneurship as the department of agriculture would do the needful to ensure a smooth kick off of the scheme.
Dr. Peterson who was accompanied by some of his special assistants, was received by the Vice Chancellor, Prof Stella Chiemeke, her Deputy, Prof Patricia Mbah, the Registrar, Barrister Richmond Omagbemi, the Bursar, Mr Sunny Ikeogwu and the University Librarian, Dr (Mrs) Vera Okonoko.
