UNIDEL VC's Cup Kicks Off Amid Excitement


The third edition of the Vice Chancellor's football tournament, University of Delta Agbor, commenced.
on Wednesday, 1st May 2024, at the school mini football stadium.
In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Stella Chiemeke said she was delighted to be part of the annual event, which has been colorful and full of fun.
Prof. Chiemeke stated that sports events, especially football, are one channel through which students showcase their hidden talents.
She urged the students not to see the competition as a purely competitive one but to consider it as a chance for bonding and building friendships.
" Whether you win or lose, consider yourselves as winners. For daring to stand up and be a participant, you have already won. "
The Vice Chancellor while appreciating the Students Advisory Services Division for hosting the event stated that apart from winning trophies, the football event helps in identifying and discovering young talents who will represent the country at national and international tournaments. She also enjoined the players to play safe and avoid any violent acts.
The opening ceremony match was between the Faculty of Computing and the Faculty of Environmental Sciences. A 10th minute own goal gave the Faculty of Computing a victory in a match that was highly interesting.
The second half saw both teams displaying excellent skills and tactics but failed to convert any opportunity.
The Bursar,Mr Sunny Ikeogwu,Deans of Education Prof. Regina Arisi, Arts Dr (Mrs) Caroline Ohen , Computing Dr Okpako Ejaita and Students Advisory Services Division comrade Nwabukwu Azani and a host of others watched attended the opening ceremony.
The tournament is expected to end on the 21st of May 2024.
