*UNIDEL VC Charges NYCN To Tackle Social Vices*


The Vice Chancellor of the University of Delta Agbor, Prof Stella Chiemeke, has charged the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), to increase its efforts in tackling social vices among the youths.

Professor Chiemeke gave the charge on Thursday, 29th August, 2024, when the Executive Council members of NYCN, lka South Chapter, paid her a courtesy call.

She said the rate of drug abuse, wearing of  dreaded hair by males as well as other social vices were on the increase and called for urgent attention.

She said UNIDEL was ready to work with the body by providing lecturers in the Computer Science Department to train the youths in digital forensic as part of measures to engage them meaningfully.

Earlier in his address, the chairman of NYCN, lka South Chapter, comrade Izegede Christain said they were in UNIDEL to commend the Vice Chancellor and Management Team for their contributions towards the speedy growth of the institution within a short period of time.

Comrade lzegede informed the management of a youth program on Digital Pathway for Community Development, which comes up in September 2024. 

He added that the program would, among other things, discuss and share ideas on how to improve the economy and security through digital means.

The NYCN chairman also stated that the body will partner with UNIDEL for the overall interest of the youths, especially the UNIDEL students.

Members of the NYCN who accompanied Comrade Christian lzegede included Eboka Ndidi, Oseh Mercy, Esemele Friday, Odije Victor, and Elue Chizim

Others were Gladys Onyeachohem, Okonta Christain, Eruogi Solomon, and Okunbor Uyi.

The Registrar, Barrister Richmond Omagbemi, the Bursar, Mr. Sunny Ikeogwu, and the University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs) Vera Okonoko were also present at the event.
